Art Released on the Streets of Dublin
Over the last couple of weeks I've been attending a course on Working with Children Through Art, with Jole Bortoli and Art to Heart. In one particular excercise we were given some tin food trays to use as a sculpture material. I made this Moonage Daydream VW Machine. On leaving the class I placed the tiny rover on a piece of green at the corner of Aungier St. and Cuffe St. Needless to say it wasn't there when I passed that spot later in the week.
Ideas on Public Sculpture
I have started a new blog called Ideas on Public Sculpture. This blog will display selected images from an ongoing photgraphic project of the same name. For more info click here.

Animated Graphic Score
Dublin based Jazz pianist Johnny Taylor's interpretation of animated graphic score 'Three for Four' by Shane Mc Kenna. Johnny was recorded performing three separate takes, each time interpreting a different section of the score.
Shane has been trying to explain his graphic scores to me for a while now, so I'm happy to have finally seen one. There are more of these truly amazing pieces here.

Switch Update
Last night I headed down to Nenagh, Co Tipperary for the launch of Switch 2009 in which I have a video piece. Despite the rain's best efforts a great night was had by all and a special thanks needs to be given to the Switch organisers for all their hard work and hospitality. Find more info here
Here are some shots taken on our walk around the town.

Switch 2009
I have been selected for Switch 2009. A video piece I produced a few years ago untitled(2006) will be projected onto the front window of an unused premises in Nenagh town centre. The theme of the project is playfulness. I'm really looking forward to seeing this work in a new context and meeting all the other artists involved. Find more info here.

Xavier Le Roy: experiments in dance
French biologist-turned-choreographer Xavier Le Roy, who presents Product of Circumstances at Tate Modern, talks about his leap from science to dance. He revisits his performances, such as Le Sacre du Printemps (2007), and explores the difference between collaborative and solo work.

Exhibition!!
I entered this photo into a competition with the theme of 'summer light'. It didn't win but I'm happy it has been included in the ensuing exhibition in The Samhlaiocht Gallery in Tralee, Co. Kerry which runs until the 23rd October. For more info check here.

Richard Gilligan
Check out Richard Gilligan. He's a young Irish photographer. I've seen lots of his work in publications over the last year or so and he's responsible for the fantastic artwork for David Kitt's last album.

Outgrowths and Branches
I'm starting to incorporate pencils with found branches and bits of trees. I've been working all summer with environmental based kids workshops and exhibition. This has got looking at bringing more natural materials to my practice. These are just testers and I'm some what cautious about using fixatives in my sculptures.
